SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Arena Football League and the SaberCats announced today that wide receiver Fred Williams has earned weekly honors from the AFL for his performance this past Saturday in San Jose's 56-36 win over the Cleveland Gladiators. Williams was named the J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week and his play earned him the AFL Highlight of the Week.
Williams turned in a show-stopping performance, led by two kickoff returns for touchdowns. Early in the second quarter, the former St. Cloud State standout took a kickoff 57-yards for the score. Just before halftime, Williams did it again, this time traveling 55-yards for the touchdown. Offensively, Williams also tallied four catches for 35 yards. Both spectacular returns combined to make the highlight play of Week 7 and earned Williams the J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week.
