SaberCats, Power Swap Spots in Latest vPower Rankings

CHICAGO - The San Jose SaberCats (11-4) moved into second place in the latest AFL vPower Rankings following a 75-34 victory over the LA KISS (3-12) in Week 17. The win secured the Pacific Division championship and the No. 2 seed in the National Conference for the SaberCats, who will host the No. 3 seed Spokane Shock (8-7) in the First Round of the 2014 AFL Playoffs. The 41-point victory was enough to propel San Jose past the Pittsburgh Power (13-3), who narrowly defeated the New Orleans VooDoo, 48-43, on Monday night. Pittsburgh is on a bye in Week 18, while San Jose hosts the Tampa Bay Storm (8-7) on Friday, July 11. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET on ESPN3.

The top-ranked Cleveland Gladiators (14-1) inched closer to securing the East Division championship and No. 1 seed in the American Conference playoffs with a 61-40 victory over the Portland Thunder (4-11) last week. Cleveland can clinch the division with a win over the San Antonio Talons (1-14) this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. on ESPN3.

The back-to-back defending ArenaBowl champion Arizona Rattlers stayed put at No. 4 in the latest vPower Rankings. The Rattlers return from their Week 17 bye to face the Spokane Shock in "Deaf Valley" this weekend. Spokane, ranked fifth in the latest vPower Rankings, was also on a bye last week. Kickoff for the "NET10 Wireless Arena Football Saturday" matchup is set for 10:00 p.m. ET.

The AFL vPower Rankings are calculated on AFLFieldPass.com using vPowerâ=84 cent, a scoring system based on winning percentage, strength of schedule, scoring percentage, and win-streak. The scale is normalized from 0 (lowest) to 100 (highest).
