San Jose SaberCats News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose SaberCats announced today that they have acquired wide receiver Jarvis Williams in a trade with the Orlando Predators, in exchange for defensive lineman Justin Edison.
"We are excited to add another big body to our receiving corps," Owner/Head Coach Darren Arbet said. "Jarvis knows how to use his physical talents, and we are always looking for more players with that nose for the end zone."
Williams (6-4, 225, NC State) has two years of AFL experience, and split the 2013 season between Jacksonville and Orlando. Starting off the season with the Jacksonville Sharks, Williams appeared in six games, catching 14 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns. Assigned to the Orlando Predators in June, Williams finished off the year by appearing in six of the Predators final seven games. With Orlando, he tallied 13 catches for 124 yards and one score. In 2012 during his rookie season, also with the Predators, Williams hauled in 74 catches (second on the team) for 769 yards and 24 touchdowns (team high).
Williams attended North Carolina State for his collegiate football career. During his career as a member of the Wolfpack, he racked up 1,764 receiving yards along with 20 touchdown receptions.
