Adrian McPherson Placed on Other League Exempt

TAMPA BAY - Tampa Bay Storm quarterback Adrian McPherson signed with the Canadian Football League's Calgary Stampeders, announced vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch.

"We are happy that Adrian has this opportunity with the Stampeders," said Gooch. "You never want to lose a player like Adrian, however we are excited when a player of his caliber has the chance to excel. As an organization we strive to look for players that, like Adrian, have the ability to take their talents to the next level."

McPherson (6-foot-3, 227 lbs., Florida State), played one season with the Storm. During the 2013 season, McPherson completed 238-of-385 passes for 3,151 yards, 59 touchdowns and five interceptions. He leaves Tampa Bay as the team's single-season leader in rushing attempts (90), rushing yardage (428) and rushing touchdowns (31). His 31 rushing touchdowns is an Arena Football League single-season record for most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback.

Prior to joining the Storm, McPherson spent five seasons (2008-2012) in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes. He appeared in 77 regular season games and completed 145-of-243 passes for 1,505 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions, and added 1,035 yards on 218 rushing attempts with 20 rushing touchdowns. During his time with Montreal he won two Grey Cup Championships (2009, 2010).

McPherson began his professional career with the Indiana Firebirds in 2004 and earned AFL Rookie of The Year honors. In 2005 he became the first player in in AFL history to begin his professional career in the AFL and then get drafted in the National Football League Entry Draft, as the New Orleans Saints selected him in the fifth round (152nd overall).
