
Ryan Luke Added To Capitols Coaching Staff

Lincoln, NE â The Lincoln Capitols and Head Coach Pat Schaben are pleased to announce that Ryan Luke has accepted the position of Defensive Coordinator for the 2005 Capitols.
Luke played his collegiate football at Concordia University in Seward, NE., where he won All-NIAC honors both his Junior and Senior seasons at Wide Receiver for the Bulldogs. He also served as a team captain during his Senior season.
After graduating from Concordia in 2000, Luke moved to Kearney where he began his teaching and coaching career at nearby Elm Creek High School. He served as the Head Boy's Basketball Coach and also as the Defensive Coordinator for the football team. In 2004, Luke's Basketball team qualified for the Nebraska State Basketball Tournament.
While in Kearney, Luke was introduced to the NIFL as he joined the Tri-City Diesel for the 2001 and 2002 seasons, where he was the Coach for wide receivers and defensive backs, and also assisted the Defensive Coordinator.
2004 took Ryan back to Seward where he rejoined his collegiate football team as an assistant coach. His duties put him in charge of the wide receivers and also had him assist the Offensive Coordinator. In 2004 the team's offense was rated in the top ten in the NAIA.
Luke states "I'm very excited to be involved in indoor football once again. Coach Schaben and the Capitols have given me a great opportunity and I'm excited about the upcoming season. We have had a great start this week in camp. We look to have a solid group of veterans mixed in with some talented newcomers."
Mark your calendar. The first game is coming soon, as on March 25 the Capitols will begin their 2005 season with a three game home stand, kicking off with the Odessa Roughnecks.
