Charlotte Hounds News Release

BOSTON, MA - Major League Lacrosse today announced its weekly award winners for Week 12 of the 2016 season, naming Hounds attack Ryan Brown Cascade Rookie of the Week. In addition to Brown's honor, the Florida Launch's Kieran McArdle was named Warrior Offensive Player of the Week and Matt Dunn of the Rochester Rattlers earned Warrior Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Brown on Saturday night recorded six goals in the Hounds' 18-14 loss to the Rattlers in Rochester. He tallied a hat trick in the game's first 17 minutes, helping Charlotte build an early 7-2 lead. The Rattlers stormed back though, recording seven-straight goals to pull ahead 10-8 by mid third quarter. Brown finally stopped the run and the teams traded goals, leaving Rochester with an 11-10 advantage heading into the fourth.

The final quarter featured a lot of back-and-forth action. Brown scored what would be the Hounds' last two goals of the game, the second coming with less than four minutes remaining in regulation, making the score 16-14 in favor of the Rattlers. Rochester found the back of the net twice more in the final minutes, accounting for the 18-14 final.

Three of Brown's goals were unassisted, while two came off feeds from Joey Sankey and one from Patrick Resch. This was the second time this season that Brown scored six goals in a single game. The first came in a 20-14 victory over the Atlanta Blaze on June 25, where one of those goals also was a 2-pointer. Brown added two assists that same game, and his eight-point performance earned him Cascade Rookie of the Week honors for Week 10 as well.

Brown has tallied a total of 22 points in six appearances this season, ranking fourth among the Hounds' offense.

The Hounds (6-4) this weekend return home to American Legion Memorial Stadium for a true doubleheader. Charlotte will first play the Florida Launch (2-8) on Friday, July 22, as a makeup for the June 18 game that was postponed due to severe storms in the Boca Raton area. The game was moved to Memorial Stadium following schedule conflicts with the Launch's home field at FAU Stadium. The Hounds then face the Denver Outlaws (5-6) for the first time this season on Saturday, July 23. Both games are scheduled for 7:30pm faceoffs.
