Rush Trade Stevens to Swarm
January 23, 2014 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Edmonton Rush News Release
Edmonton, AB----General Manager and Head Coach Derek Keenan announced today the team has traded forward Dane Stevens to the Minnesota Swarm in exchange for a 2014 fourth round selection in the NLL Entry Draft.
"We are happy with where we are at and this gives Dane an opportunity to play." states GM/Head Coach Keenan.
The trade is currently pending league approval.
The Edmonton Rush will take their perfect 3-0 start to the 2014 National Lacrosse League season into their first-ever meeting with the relocated Vancouver Stealth.
Edmonton continued its impressive roll-out to the year with a dominating 15-8 victory over the Calgary Roughnecks last Friday. The Rush will also look to keep their winning ways on the road intact against the Stealth. The Rush have won seven straight road games including its 2014 season-opener in Colorado as well as a six-game road winning streak in the 2013 season which included the Rush's first-ever win in Toronto.
This will be the Rush's first meeting with the Stealth since that club moved from Everett, Washington, at the conclusion of the 2013 campaign. The Rush are 9-12 in all-time regular-season meetings against the Washington/San Jose franchise, but the Stealth are 2-0 in playoff meetings against Edmonton including last year's 12-11 win in Washington in the West Division Semifinal. The Rush had a 7-2 lead at halftime but the Stealth zoomed into control of the game by outscoring Edmonton 7-3 in the third quarter. The Stealth also dismissed the Rush from the 2010 playoffs with a 12-11 OT win in the West Division Final.
