Minnesota Swarm News Release
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Minnesota Swarm today announced that the team has acquired forward Dane Stevens from the Edmonton Rush in exchange for a fourth-round selection (via Edmonton) in the 2014 NLL Entry Draft.
Stevens, 25, is a 6-foot-3, 210-pound lefty forward who has two years of NLL experience with the Edmonton Rush. In his time with the Rush from 2010-11, the Westham Islands, British Columbia native notched 27 points (11g, 16a) and 23 loose balls in 14 career games. This past summer, Stevens led the Burnaby Lakers in scoring and ranked fourth in the WLA with 81 points (26g, 55a) in 18 games.
"Dane is a big, strong, lefty who has great scoring and assist capabilities," Swarm Owner and Governor John Arlotta said. "Obviously we have struggled scoring goals so far this year and Dane should help us both five-on-five and on the power play.
"It was an added bonus that he has played with both Logan Schuss and Scott Jones in the past, so when he is ready to play he should be able to step into the lineup seamlessly," Arlotta continued. "We are excited to have him with the Swarm."
The trade is currently pending league approval.
