Rush to take on Stealth

March 23, 2007 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Edmonton Rush News Release

Edmonton, AB--.The Rush (4-5) take on the San Jose Stealth (4-5) in a critical game with playoff ramifications.

The two teams enter the weekend tied for fourth in the West, but the Stealth hold the advantage for the final playoff spot thanks to an 11-9 victory in Edmonton back on March 2. A third and final meeting between the Rush and Stealth will take place on Saturday, April 7 at the HP Pavilion.

Edmonton is coming off one of the most important victories in franchise history. The Rush earned a 12-9 win over the Toronto Rock last Friday thanks in large part to a 50-save performance from goaltender Curtis Palidwor. For his efforts, Palidwor was named the NLL's Defensive Player of the Week.

Randy Daly and Jamey Bowen, who played his collegiate lacrosse at Sonoma State, each scored twice and added three assists in the win over Toronto - the Rush's first against their cross-Canada rivals. Jimmy Quinlan, who represented the Rush in the 2007 NLL All-Star Game, fired in three goals and had one assist.

Chris Gill leads the Rush with 22 goals, including a team-high 10 on the power play, and 39 points. Daly is second in points with 33 and leads the club with 24 assists and 57 loose balls.

Palidwor has been terrific since joining the Rush with a solid .817 save-percentage. His goals-against average in five games with New York was 16.15 but that has dropped to 8.80 in five games since being traded to Edmonton.

The Stealth enter the weekend riding a three-game winning streak with victories over Portland, Edmonton and New York.

The Rush went 0-2 versus the Stealth in 2006 which includes a 10-9 overtime loss in the inaugural Rush game in franchise history. Bowen had two goals that night for Edmonton with Quinlan contributing a goal and three assists. Kevin Howard scored four times but the Stealth still managed a 12-11 victory in San Jose.
