Chicago Rush News Release

The defensive backfield of the ArenaBowl XX champion Chicago Rush got even stronger this week with the signing of AFL veteran DB Jonathan Ordway to a one-year contract, the team announced today.

Ordway (5-11, 180, Boston College), who spent the first four years of his AFL career with the Tampa Bay Storm, had signed in the off-season with the Grand Rapids Rampage, but was released at the end of training camp.

"Jonathan is a player we have liked for a long time," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "We expected to be preparing to play against him twice this year, rather than have the opportunity to have him join our club. I think he will be a great fit in Chicago."

In his four year career, Ordway has played in 45 games, recording 226.5 tackles, seven interceptions and 69 passes broken up. He was the Storm's leading tackler in each of the past two seasons and finished tied for fourth in the league last season with 19 passes broken up.

Ordway was a rookie on Tampa Bay's championship team in 2003.

The Rush opens its season March 4 at Kansas City on ESPN on ABC at 11:30 a.m. The team's home opener at Allstate Arena is set for 7 p.m. Friday, March 9, against San Jose. Fans wishing to purchase tickets to the San Jose game, or any one of Chicago's eight home games, may order by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212, or by visiting the Ticketmaster Web site at www.ticketmaster.com.
