Chicago Rush News Release

October 20, 2003 – The Chicago Rush announced today that it has signed lineman James Baron to a contract extension through the 2005 season.

Baron, a five-time first-team All-Arena performer and one of the most feared pass rushers in AFL history, restructured his 2004 contract to give the Rush more salary cap room to sign free agents for the upcoming season. As part of the agreement, Baron's deal was extended through 2005.

"Not only is James Baron a great player," said Mike Polisky, Rush senior vice president/general manager, "but he also is the ultimate team guy. James volunteered to restructure his contract to allow us more salary cap room, allowing the Rush to sign several key free agents. Nobody wants to win a championship more than James."

After spending the first five seasons of his AFL career with the Nashville Kats, Baron signed as a free agent with the Rush prior to the 2002 season. He is one of the AFL's true "Ironmen," playing in 100 consecutive games during his seven-year career. In addition, he has earned All-Arena honors six times in his seven seasons, and has been voted the AFL's Lineman of the Year (1998, 2001) and Defensive Player of the Year (1999). His 33.5 career sacks place him fifth on the league's all-time list.

Training camp for next season will open in January 2004 with the regular season scheduled to begin the first weekend in February. Fans needing information about 2004 Rush season tickets beginning as low as $64 can call the Rush at (877) Rush-Tix (787-4849) or visit the team's Web site, www.chicagorush.com.
