Chicago Rush News Release

The Chicago Rush has signed AFL free agent wide receiver/linebacker Ryan Dennard to a two-year contract, the team announced today. In addition, the Rush has signed rookie linemen Beau Elliot, Kamau Jackson, Ellery Moore and Chad Ruffin to its 2008 training camp roster.

"We have just added a tremendous all-around football player in Ryan Dennard," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "We believe Ryan is one of the top young receivers in AFL and he is excited about coming to Chicago. In addition to his ability as a receiver, he also is a dynamic special teams player and perhaps the second best Jack linebacker in the league - right behind DeJuan Alfonzo."

Dennard (6-3, 227, Arizona State) spent the first two seasons of his AFL career playing for the Utah Blaze. In his time in Salt Lake City, Dennard played in 25 games, catching 54 passes for 696 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also recorded 50 tackles, five interceptions and five passes broken up as a member of the Blaze. Prior to joining the AFL, Dennard spent the 2004 NFL season as a member of the San Diego Chargers practice squad.

Elliott, (6-3, 320, Indiana University of PA) signed a two year-deal with the Rush after earning First-Team All-af2 honors last season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers.

Jackson (6-1, 280, Mississippi State) joins the Rush after spending the past two seasons playing in af2 with the Birmingham Steeldogs (2006) and Cincinnati Jungle Kats (2007). Last season with Cincinnati, Jackson recorded 23 tackles and three sacks, a forced fumble and two fumbles recovered in 13 games. The defensive lineman signed a three-year contract with the Rush.

Moore (6-1, 305, Kentucky) agreed to a three-year deal after spending the past two seasons playing for the Lexington Horsemen of the United Indoor Football League. Prior to joining the UIFL, Moore was a four-year letter winner at Kentucky, playing nose tackle and defensive end.

Ruffin (6-0, 295, Southern Mississippi) becomes the third rookie defensive lineman to sign a three-year deal with the Rush. While playing with the af2's Tulsa Talons last season, Ruffin recorded 17.5 tackles, 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 13 games.
