Rush Extends Contracts of Assistant Coaches

June 18, 2002 – The Chicago Rush announced today that it has exercised its option to extend the contracts of all three of the team's assistant coaches.

Assistant head coach/defensive coordinator Walt Housman, director of player personnel/ wide receivers/defensive backs coach Stan Davis and special teams/fullbacks/linebackers coach Dave Witthun will continue to work for Rush head coach Mike Hohensee through the 2003 season.

"As an organization, we are pleased with the direction of the team," said Mike Polisky, Rush senior vice president/general manager. "Our goal is to win an ArenaBowl championship, and we feel Coach Hohensee and our assistant coaches have played an important role in the team's progress towards a title."

Housman, is in his fourth season as an assistant for Hohensee, having followed him to Chicago after two seasons in New England. Originally hired as the team's line coach, Coach "Hous" was promoted to his current position in October 2001.

Davis, in his second year with the Rush, added the director of player personnel duties to his slate last October as well.

Witthun is in his first season coaching with the Rush after spending the 2000 and 2001 seasons coaching in the af2 with Pensacola and Macon, respectively.

The Rush returns home to Allstate Arena Sunday, June 30, to take on the New York Dragons. Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Fans wishing to purchase individual game tickets to the Rush-Dragons game or any of the other Rush home games may order by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212 or by visiting the Ticketmaster Web site at www.ticketmaster.com.
