Vancouver Warriors News Release

VANCOUVER - Six unanswered goals in the second quarter was in the end the undoing for the Vancouver Warriors, as they fell 10-9 to the Saskatchewan Rush, who spoiled the West Coast home opener before 6083 fans at Rogers Arena.

The Warriors jumped out to a 4-1 first quarter lead on a pair of goals each from Keegan Bal and Mitch Jones. However, a six goal second quarter run by the Rush put them ahead to stay 7-4 at the half.

A late rally fell just short, with rookie Reid Bowering ringing a rocket off the crossbar in the closing minutes, leaving their prairie rivals to squeak out a victory.

Keegan Bal led the charge with four goals, while Mitch Jones kicked in with three more goals on the night, giving him 10 on the season after just three games. Marty Dinsdale also notched a pair in the loss, while Bal led all Warriors with six points on the night.

Goalie Alex Buque kept his team close all night, making 35 saves on the evening and taking his first loss as a Warrior.

The Warriors (2-1) enter the Christmas break in a tie for first place in the tight western conference. Next up for the locals, a home game versus the Colorado Mammoth at Rogers Arena on Friday January 7 at 7:30 PM.

Ticket information:

Single game tickets, flex packs, group tickets and VIP suites for the Warriors home games are officially on sale at tickets.vancouverwarriors.com/.

Lacrosse is back. Make sure to tune in on Friday night to cheer on your Vancouver Warriors.
