Rush Announce Corbeil as Team Captain

Edmonton, AB---The Edmonton Rush are very pleased to announce Chris Corbeil as the new Team Captain heading into the 2014 National Lacrosse League season.
Entering his fifth NLL season, Corbeil has become the on-floor leader for the Rush and replaces outgoing Captain Jimmy Quinlan, who retired following the 2013 season and is now the Rush's defensive coach. Quinlan was the final remaining member of the original Rush roster from the inaugural 2006 season and the longest-serving player in team history, missing only one regular-season game in eight season.
Corbeil, who hails from London, Ontario, had a breakout season in 2013, setting career-highs in points (14), goals (9), and forced turnovers (21), to go with 107 loose balls and a team record of four shorthanded goals.
The six-foot-two, 188-pound defender has compiled 20 goals and 24 assists for 44 points plus 362 loose balls and 50 forced turnovers in 55 regular-season games. In seven playoff games, Corbeil has chipped in one goal and three assists.
Joining Corbeil on the Rush's leadership committee are four players who will wear "ÃËA's during the season. Brett Mydske and Jarrett Davis will be the alternate captains for home games, while Kyle Rubisch and Zack Greer have the alternate captain roles for road games.
Mydske has developed into one of the NLL's best young defenders, and entering his fifth pro campaign, the New Westminster, B.C., native and 2011 NLL All-Star has 39 points to go with 237 loose balls and 56 forced turnovers in 63 regular-season games. Playing in his first season with Edmonton in 2013, Davis, who is from Port Moody, B.C., burst onto the scene and set career-highs across the board with 16 goals (including five power-play markers), 25 assists and 41 points.
Rubisch is one of the league's top players and captured his second straight NLL Defender of the Year award last season. A two-time NLL All-Star and the 2013 Rush MVP, the Brampton, Ontario, product broke his own league record last season with 44 forced turnovers and finished second in the NLL with 128 loose balls.
In 2013, Greer led the Rush in both goals (28) and power-play goals (7), while also setting a career-high with 53 points. The Whitby, Ontario, native, who is regarded as one of the NLL's hardest shooters, has racked up 83 goals and 148 points in 54 regular-season games. He also registered six goals and seven assists in helping the Rush get to the 2012 NLL Champion's Cup final.
