Chicago Rush News Release
May 19, 2007 - In advance of tonight's game against the Nashville Kats, the Chicago Rush has activated defensive back Russell Shaw and wide receiver Kevin Beard from Injured Reserve, the team announced today.
To make room on its roster for the pair, the Rush placed defensive back Jonathan Ordway on IR and moved lineman Nick Myers from its active roster to its practice squad. Ordway suffered a partial tear of his left bicep in Monday's loss at Dallas and will miss at least the next four weeks.
Shaw (5-10, 185, Michigan), who has spent the entire season on IR with an ankle injury, is in his third season with the Rush. He played in 12 games last season, recording 43 tackles and catching 26 passes.
A rookie who was a member of the af2's ArenaCup champion Spokane Shock last year, Beard (6-1, 192, Miami (FL)) has been out since training camp with a knee injury. In college, Beard was a three-year starter at flanker for the University of Miami, catching 67 passes for 922 yards and seven touchdowns during his Hurricanes career (1999-2003). He was a member of the Hurricanes 2001 team that won the national championship after defeating Nebraska in the 2002 Rose Bowl.
