KATY, Tex. (May 23, 2008) -- Normally, Frisco Thunder defensive coordinator Eric Jackson spends most of his weeks preparing to shut down the upcoming opponent's passing game. For Saturday's game against the Katy Ruff Riders, Jackson has taken a few extra minutes on run defense schemes. Frisco (6-4) faces a Ruff Rider (3-5) team that likes to run the ball and features two capable rushers in Carlos Alsup and former Nebraska quarterback Jammal Lord. Katy's second in the Intense Football League in rushing, averaging 14 attempts and 41 yards per game. ``Traditionally, you don't see a lot of running in indoor football,'' Jackson said. ``But each team has different styles and different philosophies. ``It's our job to come up with a gameplan to stop any offense." Katy enters Saturday's game on a two-game roll after enduring a four-game losing streak that included three consecutive losses to unbeaten defending champion Louisiana. ``That situation beats you both physically and mentally," Jackson said. "You can lose your confidence as a quarterback, a team, a coach ... Louisiana can do that to you. " Frisco won the first meeting in a wild 66-63 shootout, but Jackson wants and expects a much lower scoring game this time around. A score in the 30s or 40s would be nice. The Thunder defense has given up an average of 28.5 points and under 200 total yards after coming back from a two-week bye. "Any time you keep a team under 40 guarantees you at least three stops and if we get that, we'll be okay," Jackson said. "Defense has to do what it takes to keep it respectable" Frisco's currently third in the playoff seeding, while Katy is battling Odessa for the final spot.
