BINGHAMTON, NY - On Friday, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies and Lupo's announced the Double-A Mets will play as the Binghamton Spiedies for their game on May 26 at NYSEG Stadium. Celebrating the locally-beloved sandwich and highlighting their 26-year partnership with Lupo's, the Ponies will trade in their regular uniforms for special Lupo's-style jerseys and spiedies hats for the special event.

Fans can purchase their own spiedies t-shirts and hats right now at The Armory Team Store at NYSEG Stadium. The Store is open Monday-Friday (9 AM - 5 PM), and will offer extended hours on Saturday, March 24 (10 AM - 2 PM) and Saturday, March 31 (10 AM - 4 PM).

"As we solicited the community during the name the team contest, it became very apparent how passionate the fans are about spiedies," noted Team President John Hughes. "This has been something in the works for more than a year, and we are thrilled to give this to our fans."

"One of the biggest parts of the fan experience at RumbleTown is the food," said Rumble Ponies Managing Director John "JB" Bayne. "We are embracing the spiedie identity not only for the Rumble Ponies, but for the entire community."

"Lupo's is thrilled to be partners with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies," said Lupo's owner Sam Lupo. "Not only have our Lupo's Spiedies been sold at the stadium for 26 years, but this year we worked with the Rumble Ponies to create a specialty sausage, The Firecracker. What better way to support our local community than to play as the Binghamton Spiedies on May 26, to honor our community's famous sandwich."

Spiedies (pronounced "spee-dees") Night presented by Lupo's will unfold on May 26 at 6:05 PM when the Binghamton Spiedies take the field against the Bowie Baysox. A mini version of Binghamton's hugely-popular Spiedie Fest will unfold at NYSEG Stadium with a pregame spiedie eating contest, a special spieidies menu, a caricature artist, face painting, pony rides, and much more.

The Rumble Ponies and Lupo's also announced exciting new aspects related to their partnership, including the return of the "Lupo's Spiedie Race." The dash, now featuring a chicken, a cow, a pig, and a Felix Roma roll, will be held between innings at every Rumble Ponies home game in 2018.

New food items from Lupo's will also be available all season-long at NYSEG Stadium, including a firecracker sausage that can only be found at the home of the Rumble Ponies. The team will also offer a beef spiedie and a chicken deluxe spiedie.

Tickets for Spiedies Night on May 26 can be purchased by visiting the Rumble Ponies website (www.BINGRP.com), calling the Starting Gate Box Office (607-722-FUNN), or visiting NYSEG Stadium (Monday-Friday: 9 AM - 5 PM).

The Rumble Ponies open the 2018 season at home on Thursday, April 5 against the Portland Sea Dogs at 6:35 PM. Individual game tickets for all 2018 home games are on sale now.
