FC Edmonton News Release
EDMONTON, Ab. - They are two teams heading in opposite directions but they're set to collide on Sunday afternoon at Foote Field (4 p.m. K.O./ www.fcedmonton.com).
Montreal is in seventh place in the NASL standings. Edmonton is in second.
Montreal is playing its last season in the NASL. Edmonton is playing its first.
Montreal has won two games this season. Both of those have been against Edmonton.
Despite the differences, opposites are sure to make for some attractive soccer on Sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately for FC Edmonton, they'll be without their leading point-getter Shaun Saiko. The team will miss the midfielder's four goals and three assists but there are a few wounded soldiers that could make it back into coach Harry Sinkgraven's starting 11.
For Montreal, goalkeeper Bill Gaudette will miss the remainder of the season with an injury but backup Evan Bush won the NASL's Defensive Player of the Week for Week 11 and is sure to fill in nicely for the injured keeper.
OTHER INFORMATION:
- The Impact has won two games against Edmonton by a combined score of 7-0.
- FC Edmonton has only lost to two teams in the NASL, Montreal is one, Carolina the other.
- Shaun Saiko is suspended for Sunday's game because of a red card against the NSC Minnesota Stars.
