Rosters Announced for 2012 adidas MLS Player Combine
January 6, 2012 - Major League Soccer (MLS) News Release
NEW YORK (January 6, 2012) - Major League Soccer today announced additional player participants, rosters and the schedule of games for the 2012 adidas MLS Player Combine. While games will not be open to the public, fans can watch the action live online at www.MLSsoccer.com.
MLS has added Dom Dwyer, Andrew Jean-Baptiste, Enzo Martinez and Tyler Polak to the 2012 Generation adidas class.
In addition to the initial list of Division I college seniors and Generation adidas signings invited to the Combine, MLS has invited two more college seniors, RJ Allen (Monmouth) and Babayele Sodade (University of Alabama-Birmingham) as well as seven non-collegiate players to the list of participants.
All additional players, as well as the complete Combine rosters, are listed below.
Each team will be led by a collegiate head coach who will be assisted by an experienced soccer professional. U.S. U-15 Men's National Team and Princeton head coach Jim Barlow will coach AdiZero (blue) with Ignace Moleka of the United Futbol Academy, Yale head coach Brian Tompkins will coach AdiPure (white) with Josh Sheldon of the Grand Rapids Crew Juniors, University of Washington head coach Jamie Clark will coach team Prime (green) with Todd Saldana of the South Bay Force, and University of Maryland head coach Sasho Cirovski will coach team AdiPower (red) with Jonathon Colton of Bethesda Soccer Club.
Note: Generation adidas player Andrew Wenger will not participate in Combine due to training commitments with the U.S. U-23 National Team.
The rosters and game schedules for the adidas MLS Player Combine follow:
2012 Generation adidas Class additions
First Last Position School DOB Status Citizenship
Dom Dwyer F South Florida 7/30/90 Generation adidas USA
As a forward, Dwyer scored a number of his goals this season, 16 in all, Ã- by poaching tallies in a variety of ways. But one of his traits stands out the most: his speed, which gives him the ability to get in behind defenses.
Andrew Jean-Baptiste D Connecticut 6/16/92 Generation adidas USA
Signed after his sophomore season at UConn, the 2011 Big East Conference player of year scored two goals from his defensive position this season. Jean-Baptiste was also a member of the U.S. U-20 National Team as well.
Enzo Martinez M North Carolina 9/29/90 Generation adidas Uruguayan
Best when deployed in the middle of the park, Martinez is another player who fits the bill of a classic No. 10. A clean player with the ball at his feet, he sparked North Carolina's attack with nine goals and 10 assists, finishing with 22 goals and 20 assists during three years at UNC.
Tyler Polak D Creighton 5/13/92 Generation adidas USA
In two seasons at Creighton, started every game he played in, making total of 44 appearances and playing a shade less than 4,000 minutes. Polak picked up 35 caps for the US Under-17 squad including playing every minute of the 2009 U-17 World Cup campaign at left back.
