
Rookie of the Year, Naugatuck Whaler Tim Richter Is Back

The Danbury Whalers are proud to announce that Forward Tim Richter has signed an agreement to re-join the team for a second season. Richter was a co-winner of the Federal Hockey League's Rookie of the Year Award with Danbury Whalers teammate Ryan Patsch.
Richter, a native of Naugatuck, Connecticut, was the 2nd leading scorer on Danbury last season registering 70 points. Richter's 70 was the 2nd highest single season total in team history trailing only teammate Cody Ayers 81 point campaign. Richter had 28 goals which was second on the club and was the 3rd highest single season total trailing only Mike Atkinson (39 in 12-13) and Patsch (31) last season. Richter's 42 assist were second on the team and were also tied for 2nd highest single season total. Richter only trailed teammate Ayers 54 and tied Matt Moffat from the 2011-12 season.
Last season in Danbury, played in all 61 (playoffs included) of the Whalers games. He registered 21 multi point games including one game with 4 points and eight others with 3. Richter had one had trick and two games where he registered two goals. In the playoffs, Tim had 3 points.
Richter came to the Whalers in last season's Inaugural College Junior Hockey Draft. He was a 2nd round selection out of the University of Massachusetts-Boston.
The Danbury Whalers open up their 5th season of Federal Hockey League action on Friday, October 17th in Watertown. The following night the teams come back to the Danbury Ice Arena for the Home Opener on Saturday, October 18th.

The Danbury Whalers would like to thank PA Announcer Mike Armstrong as well as DJ Russ Cole for their effort and dedication to the organization. Both men worked extremely hard for the Whalers and took their craft very seriously. Both individuals have resigned from their full time role with the team, but have remained with the organization and will be serving in back up roles as needed.
