Austin Ice Bats News Release


For the 11th consecutive summer, the "RollerBats" will take to the streets, as the Austin Ice Bats of the Central Hockey League today announced the schedule for their yearly series of free youth in-line hockey clinics. The "RollerBats Asphalt Assault Tour" begins Saturday, July 8th, with the first of five clinics at Academy Sports & Outdoors locations.

The clinics are free of charge and open to all children ages 6-13, accompanied by a parent or guardian. No pre-registration is necessary, but clinic participants may sign up ahead of time through the Ice Bats website at www.icebats.com.

Ice Bats players will conduct skills and safety demonstrations, and in-line hockey scrimmages. Autograph signings conclude each session. Participants are asked to bring their own in-line skates, stick and helmet. Additional equipment will be available on a limited basis.

The schedule for the 2006 "RollerBats Asphalt Assault Tour" is as follows:

Sat., July 8th: 10am - noon @ Academy Sports & Outdoors, 801 E. William Cannon (at IH-35)

Sat., July 15th: 10am - noon @ Academy Sports & Outdoors, 1351 S. IH-35 (in Round Rock)

Sat. July 22nd: 10am - noon @ Academy Sports & Outdoors, 7513 N. IH-35 (at Hwy. 183)

Sat., July 29th: 10am - noon @ Academy Sports & Outdoors, 5400 Brodie Lane (Sunset Valley)

Sat., Aug. 12th: 10am - noon @ Academy Sports & Outdoors, 12250 Research Blvd. (between Oak Knoll and Duval)

The Ice Bats will begin their 11th season at the all-new Chaparral Ice Arena, located on I-35 between Howard Lane and Wells Branch Parkway. The team's first home game for the 2006-07 season has been scheduled for Saturday, October 21st, with the remainder of the CHL schedule to be released in July.

Season tickets and corporate partnerships for the '06-'07 campaign are currently available, with full-season and half-season ticket plans on sale now. Fans may call the Ice Bats ticket office at (512) 927-PUCK, or log onto the team's website at www.icebats.com for more information.
