Fort Wayne Freedom News Release
The Fort Wayne Freedom is pleased to announce that leading rusher Rocky Harvey will be returning for the 2004 season.
One of the team's captains in 2003, Harvey quickly became a fan favorite with his exciting running style and inspired play. His 763 rushing yards ranked him 3rd in the National Indoor Football League (NIFL) and provided great balance to an explosive Freedom offense. Harvey was also active in the passing game, piling up 32 catches and 311 yards. His 31 touchdowns also placed him among the league's elite (3rd).
"Rocky brought toughness to our offense last year," commented offensive coordinator Matt Land. "He took every carry for us at running back and played a big role every week."
A 2003 Eastern Division All-Star, Harvey is no stranger to post-season recognition. He was named as an honorable mention All-Big Ten performer as a senior at Illinois when he rushed for 683 yards to lead the Illini.
