Rockstars first tryout camp a success
April 24, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Chicago Rockstars News Release
Chicago, IL. Fifty basketball players from across the country participated in the ABA expansion team's first tryout camp in Chicago. "Overall, we consider this event a great start for developing a quality basketball team," stated Marques Sullivan, owner. "Every player that participated in the camp went away satisfied with the structure and organization of the camp. Although we would have liked to have had more players, the number of quality players that showed up made up for the difference."
"I have attended around four camps in the last year with various teams and the Chicago Rockstars, by far, conducted the best camp," said one of the players.
Head coach Kenny Williams was just as optimistic. "We attracted some great talent here today. My staff and I will go through a difficult evaluation process that will produce at least 10 players for a return invitation," he said. The names of the players will be listed on the Rockstars website, www.rockstarbasketball.com, on Saturday, April 29th, giving the coaching staff plenty of time to meet and exchange information on each individual player. The dance team was just as successful. "We attracted some pretty girls with quality dance skills," said Veronica Sullivan, Director of Entertainment. "The fans will not be disappointed."
The team will announce another camp to be set in the South Suburbs of Chicago in late May. For more information, call 800 401 7971 or email info@rockstarbasketball.com or visit www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
