Rockland Boulders Accepted Into Can-Am League

DURHAM, North Carolina (January 10, 2011) - The Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball announced today that the league will operate as an eight-team circuit for the 2011 season.

In a unanimous vote of league directors this week, the expansion Rockland Boulders were admitted to the league. The Boulders' new stadium is under construction with a completion date set for early June. The stadium is located in Rockland County, NY approximately 25 miles north of New York City.

Commented Can-Am League Commissioner Miles Wolff: "We are extremely pleased to welcome the Rockland Boulders to our league. It should be a great market for us. They have experienced management, and with a gorgeous new stadium underway, we expect them to be one of the premier clubs in independent baseball. With the addition of the Newark Bears earlier this fall, we have added two great ballparks and markets."

The league will play a 94 game season starting on May 26th and conclude on Labor Day, September 5th. Two best of five playoff series will follow. The league members for the 2011 season are the Brockton Rox, Newark Bears, New Jersey Jackals, Pittsfield Colonials, Quebec Capitales, Rockland Boulders and Worcester Tornadoes. The Sussex (NJ) Skyhawks will not operate in 2011. Their place with be taken by the New York Federals, a road team that will be run by the New York State League with players from that league and other selected professional players.
