Rockford to meet Great Lakes in 2005 CBA playoffs

Boise, ID (March 5, 2005) — The Rockford Lightning claimed the final spot in the 2005 CBA Playoffs on Friday night after a 123-112 (6-1) victory over the Gary Steelheads, marking the 12th consecutive postseason appearance for the team. The Lightning will face the Great Lakes Storm in the Eastern Conference Finals, which will begin Tuesday, March 15, at the Birch Run Expo Center in Birch Run, Michigan.

Both teams are still battling for the regular season conference title and home-court advantage during the series. The Storm currently holds a 4.1 quarter-point average with three games remaining in the regular season, while Rockford holds a 3.8 average with four games remaining. If Great Lakes secures the number one seed, the series will go 2-2-1, with games one, two and five at the Birch Run Expo Center. If Rockford earns the top seed, the series will go 2-3 with games one and two in Birch Run, and games three, four and five at the Rockford MetroCentre.

The winner of the Eastern Conference series will then face the Western Conference champion in the 2005 CBA Finals, which returns to a best-of-five game series this year. The 2005 CBA Finals is scheduled to begin on Saturday, March 26, on the home court of the team with the higher seed.
