July 19, 2009 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF)
Rockford Thunder News Release

First-year player Chelsie Mesa got the Thunder (12-13) on the board in the second inning of the game when she blasted a pitch from Force pitcher Kristin Erb deep to right field for her first career home run.

The game would remain 2-0 until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Thunder would score two more runs making the score 4-0. Rockford was aided in the inning by two errors by the Force (5-19), who committed four errors in the game, to score the two runs.

Thunder starter Samantha Sheeley pitched her best game of her rookie season on Sunday to pick up her first career win. Sheeley (1-3) went the distance in the game and allowed two runs on five Force hits and she was able to escape several scoring opportunities by the Force.

Philadelphia left 10 runners on base for the second consecutive game.

Philadelphia, who didn't have a hit in the third through sixth innings, used three hits in the seventh to add its two runs. The Force's best hitter in the five games was former Thunder player De De Justice. Justice was 1-for-4 in today's game with the one-hit being a two-run home run to centerfield.

Erb took the loss in the game to fall to 1-6 on the season.
