December 1, 2012 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release

Toronto - Toronto Rock General Manager Terry Sanderson has announced the signing of free agent forward Scott Evans to a one-year agreement. Evans most recently played for the Edmonton Rush, but was released by the club on Monday. The contract is pending league approval.

The 31-year old Peterborough,ON native has posted a pair of 40-goal seasons during this 8-year NLL career with stops in Rochester and Edmonton. Last season in Edmonton, the right-hander scored 24 goals and added 23 assists for a total of 47 points in just 12 games.

"He's got some real jam and everyone hates to play against him," said Sanderson. "He's going to come to camp and have the same opportunity that anyone else has when they walk through the door. It's up to Scott to make the best of things."

Evans is coming off a summer in which he captured his fifth Mann Cup Canadian Senior A championship with his hometown Peterborough Lakers of Ontario's Major Series Lacrosse. Evans sits fifth in all-time Mann Cup scoring with 118 points in 32 career games.

The Rock also signed 2012 third round draft pick Kyle Belton to a one-year agreement pending league approval.

The Rock opened training camp on Saturday afternoon at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre (TRAC) in Oakville as they began to get set for the 2013 NLL season. The Rock will play three exhibition contests, including two scrimmages at the TRAC. The scrimmages on December 8th and 22nd will be open to the public each with a 7pm starts time and no charge for admission. In between those two scrimmages, Toronto will travel to Montreal to face the Rochester Knighthawks. Tickets can be purchased online for the December 15th game at the Bell Centre at www.evenko.ca.
