Rock Players Ready to Grow for Movember

October 31, 2014 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release

Toronto, ON - The Toronto Rock will join others across the country and around the globe with their face grown and hand brushed moustaches. During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men's faces. With their "Mo's", these men raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, including prostate and testicular cancer as well as male mental health initiatives across the country.

The Rock team is led by Movember Captain Nick Rose. Other payers participating include Damon Edwards, Scott Johnston, Mark White and Brady Heseltine. Fans are invited to donate and support their favourite Toronto Rock player or join the team and grow a "Mo" of their own.

Last year, players took fundraising efforts to a new level donating several unique items as a reward to Rock fans that donated the most funds, or made a donation on a given day. Toronto Rock game used memorabilia gave fans an added incentive to support the cause.

On Movember 1st, Rock players will begin the month with a clean-shaven face. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery.

"By signing up at Movember.com men and women across Canada are pledging to support the moustache and the efforts of their fellow Mo Bros and Mo Sistas who are helping to change the face of men's health," said Pete Bombaci, Country Director, Movember Canada. "The moustache unites us all. Made in Movember is about taking action locally and thinking globally, bringing communities together, and starting important conversations about men's health."

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words, they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men's health.
