Rochester Lancers News Release
(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Lancers (5-12) return to action for a two-game week this week, beginning with a Thursday night tilt on the road against the Pennsylvania Roar, followed by a Sunday afternoon clash with the Baltimore Blast. Thursday's match against the Roar is a rescheduled game and will kick-off at 7:05 p.m. while Sunday's match is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
After being mathematically eliminated from playoff contention last weekend against Syracuse, the Lancers will look to finish up their 2013-14 on a strong note. Heading into Pennsylvania, the Lancers will be looking to sweep the season series 4-0. Rochester has outscored the Roar 45-15 in their three previous contests this season, however they will be without forward Mauricio Salles, after he received a red-card on Saturday against Syracuse. A sweep would mark just the second time in franchise history that the Lancers have swept a season series from a team. Pennsylvania enters the match at 1-15.
The Blast are currently 13-3 and trail the Milwaukee Wave (14-2) by just one game for table supremacy in the MISL. The defending league champs have never lost to Rochester in 12 regular season tries. Two former Rochester outdoor players are among the Baltimore leaders offensively. Midfielders Tony Donatelli and Max Ferdinand rank second and third in team scoring with 34 and 33 points respectively. The club is led by Mike Lookingland with 44 points.
The Lancers will close out MISL action this season on Sunday, March 2 when they travel to take on the Syracuse Silver Knights at the Blue Cross Arena at 3 pm. All matches can be heard live on the Lancers flagship station Fickle 93.3 FM with veteran broadcasterÃÂ Joe GiulianoÃÂ once again calling all of the action.ÃÂ In addition all MISL matches can be seen live via webcast atÃÂ www.youtube.com/MISLindoorsoccer.
