Rochester Lancers Fall to Syracuse in Season Opener 16-10

(Syracuse, NY) - The Rochester Lancers (0-1) opened the 2012-13 MISL season in Syracuse and fell 16-10 to the Syracuse Silver Knights (1-1) this evening.

The game was a game of streaks as the Silver Knights scored the first five points of the match. Then the Lancers scored ten straight only to see the Silver Knights score the last eleven points of the match to win going away. The loss spoiled the debut of new Lancers head coach and Syracuse native Jim Hesch.

Mauricio Salles led the Lancers offensively with two free kick goals and an assist. Doug Miller, newcomer Garret Pettis, and Rey "Boom Boom" Martinez scored the other goals for the Lancers.

Syracuse was led offensively by Matt Clare and Nelson Santana who scored two goals apiece.

The Lancers will return home to prepare for the home opener on Saturday, November 10th at the Blue Cross Arena. The club will host the Chicago Soul FC beginning at 7:00 p.m. All matches can heard live on the Lancers flagship station Fickle 93.3 FM with veteran broadcaster Joe Giuliano once again calling all of the action. In addition all MISL matches can be seen live via webcast at www.MISLlivesoccer.com.
