Lancers Begin 2012-13 Season Tonight in Syracuse

(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Lancers will kickoff their 2012-13 campaign tonight when they travel the I-90 Thruway to take on the Syracuse Silver Knights. It marks the second year in a row that Rochester has begun their season at the Oncenter in Syracuse. The game will kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
The Lancers will begin the season returning seven players from last year's playoff squad, including three of the club's top point-getters. Among them are leading scorer Mauricio Salles who finished the season second among all MISL Scorers with 81 points. Also returning are forwards Doug Miller and Jeremy Ortiz, goalkeeper Patrick Hannigan and Irondequoit native Jake Schindler.
"We have a good core group of experienced players returning from last season" said Head Coach Jim Hesch. "I am looking forward to an exciting season this year."
Syracuse will not be an easy mark however as they pack some scoring punch of their own returning First Team All-MISL all star Nelson Santana and last year's Rookie of the Year Slavisa Ubiparapovic. The club is coached by Tommy Tanner.
Last season the Lancers won the season series with the Silver Knights, posting a 4-2 regular season record, including a pair of wins in Central New York. Rochester finished the season 11-13, earning a playoff berth before falling to the Baltimore Blast in the league's "second season".
Following the game at Syracuse the Lancers will return home to prepare for the home opener on Saturday, November 10th at the Blue Cross Arena. The club will host the Chicago Soul FC beginning at 7:00 p.m. All matches can heard live on the Lancers flagship station Fickle 93.3 FM with veteran broadcaster Joe Giuliano once again calling all of the action. In addition all MISL matches can be seen live via webcast at www.MISLlivesoccer.com.
