Rochester Lancers Fall to Baltimore Blast

(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Lancers (5-7) fell to the first place Baltimore Blast (10-2) by a score of 17-4 at Christopher J. Wilmot Field at the Blue Cross Arena. MISL leading scorer Doug Miller scored both Lancers goals giving him 25 goals on the season. Baltimore had a balanced attack with six different goal scorers led by Lucas Roque who had a pair of goals for the visitors.
The Blast stormed out to a lead they would never give up in the first quarter on a goal by Marco Mangione and a pair from Roque to lead 6-0 after fifteen minutes of play.
Baltimore would go up 12-0 in the second quarter thanks to 3-point goals from Machel Millwood and Lucio Gonzaga. Miller would get the Lancers on the scoreboard with a little more than five minutes left in the half.
After a scoreless third quarter, Baltimore would close the game out in the final fifteen minutes. With Jeremy Ortiz on as the sixth attacker, Miller would get his second of the match. But, Adriano Dos Santos would score a 3-point goal with Ortiz out of the Lancers goal and Mike Lookingland would convert a penalty shootout attempt to make the final score 17-4 Baltimore.
With two goals by the Lancers this evening Dunkin Donuts will donate two pounds of coffee to Foodlink. So far this season Dunkin Donuts has donated 69 pounds of coffee.
The Lancers will return to action on Friday, January 4th when they visit the Baltimore Blast at 7:35pm at 1st Mariner Arena. The Lancers will return home to Christopher J. Wilmot Field at the Blue Cross Arena on Saturday, January 12th when they host the Syracuse Silver Knights at 7 pm. All matches can be heard live on the Lancers flagship station Fickle 93.3 FM with veteran broadcaster Joe Giuliano once again calling all of the action.
