
Rochester Honkers Sign Minnesota Native Slugger

(Rochester, Minn.) - The Rochester Honkers have announced the signing of Reed Hjelle (jell-lee) to a temporary contract for the 2018 season.
Hjelle is a 6-foot-2 210-pound first basemen/outfielder from the University of Minnesota-Crookston. The junior is swinging a hot bat for the Golden Eagles hitting a team best .429. He leads the team in home runs (8), doubles (16), RBIs (45) and hits (66). Hjelle has led Crookston in batting average every year he has been on campus. He hit .339 his sophomore year and .387 his freshman year.
Hjelle is a native of East Grand Forks, Minn. and attended East Grand Forks High School. As a junior, he hit .465 with one home run and drove in 23 runs. He was a three year letter winner in baseball and also lettered in football and hockey.
The Rochester Honkers 25th season begins on Tuesday, May 29th when the team hosts the Eau Claire Express in their home opener at Mayo Field at 7:05 pm. 5-Game Packs and Kids Club Memberships are available now!
