Rochester coming in 2005
September 23, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. Joe Newman, ABA Co-Founder, today announced that the professional basketball league has added Rochester, NY to its 2005 expansion teams. According to Newman, "Rochester is a tremendous sports city and the rivalry with the Buffalo expansion team should be tremendous. We have a great ownership group there - very talented and very committed. We are very pleased."
The team will be owned by a group led by Severko Hrywnak, D.P.M., MD, who is also in real estate development. Dr. Hrywnak added, "We have watched the growth of the ABA with great interest and have liked what we've seen. It appears to be a very exciting brand of basketball with unusual rules - and the fan-friendly and affordable approach to professional sports appealed to my partners and me. Like the ABA, we are very pleased also."

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
