Roadrunners Sweep Series

Edinburg, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners completed the four-game sweep of the McAllen Thunder with a 10-3 victory Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

The Roadrunners (7-5) got on the board in the bottom of the second. Stantrel Smith hit an RBI single that allowed Carlos Hereaud to score to make it 1-0.

With the bases loaded, Antoin Gray hit an RBI sacrifice fly that allowed Luis Blanco to score from third to tie things at one for the Thunder.

Tony Phillips delivered a two-run single in the bottom of the third that allowed Tim Battle and Vincent Blue to score. Smith then followed with an RBI single that drove in Hereaud extending the Roadrunners lead 4-1.

Luis Blanco racked up two RBIs on one hit for the McAllen Thunder. He doubled in the sixth inning.

Dave Dineli improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Edinburg Roadrunners. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out five, walked four and surrendered seven hits.

Kedrick Martin (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just four innings, walked four, struck out three, and allowed five runs.

The Thunder will have Monday off and will start a six game home stand on Tuesday night at home versus the Abilene Prairie Dogs with the first pitch scheduled at 7:05 p.m.

The Thunder is in their 2nd season of professional baseball and will open up their home 2012 ULB season on Tuesday, June 5 versus Abilene Prairie Dogs. Season Tickets, Family Passes and group nights for Thunder games are available at 956-380-6256 .
