Topeka Pilots News Release

In front of 1669 in attendance, the RoadRunners came out hitting on all cylinders. At 1:09 into the game Jordan George gave the puck a little nudge after a pass from Andrew Blazek and Caleb Wolfgram. Topeka would increase their lead 2-0 at 9:07 on a power play goal from Andy Inderieden with Steve Shafer and Eric Artman providing the assists.

Skating to the opposite side of the rink, George found the back of the net with help from Inderieden and Bryon Paulazzo on Topeka's second power play goal. Wichita Falls, however, was down but not out, scoring at the 18:21 mark of the second period.

Through two periods the RoadRunners were up 3-1 and led in shots 12 -7 respectively. Wichita Falls would step up their effort doubling their shots on goal during the third period. It would take an extra player on the ice and an empty net for the Wildcats to sneak a shot by, bringing the score to 3-2. Topeka's defense and the work of veteran goalie Bryce Merriam were enough to take the win in regulation with a score of 3-2.

The RoadRunners will again take on the Wichita Falls Wildcats, Sunday afternoon at 3:05 at Landon Arena in the best of five series. Tickets are available at the Kansas Expocentre Box Office by calling 785-234-4545.
