Topeka Pilots News Release

For the fans who caught this weekend's sweep of the Wenatchee Wild, this news should not come as a surprise. The RoadRunners took all three games in exciting fashion, but none of it could have happened without the efforts of South Star of the Week Jasen Fernsler and honorable mention Sam Rennaker.

From NAHL.com - Topeka heads into a holiday break fresh on the heels of a three-game weekend home sweep of the Wenatchee Wild. The sweep gave the RoadRunners some breathing room in the South, as they now enjoy an eight point lead atop the division. Second year forward Jasen Fernsler, 20, was remarkably consistent in the wins, as the native of Charlotte, Michigan, recorded two points in each victory for a six-point weekend. On Friday, Fernsler (6'0/168) had two assists in a 3-0 shutout of the Wild. On Saturday, Fernsler had a goal and an assist in a 4-3 win. He completed the weekend with another goal and assist on Sunday in a 3-2 win. For the season, Fernsler is 2nd on the RoadRunners in scoring with 30 points in 31 games played. "Jasen is a difference-maker and has a team first mentality. It was so important for us to go into the break with some momentum and he never let up in a three-game series against a very good opponent in Wenatchee," said RoadRunners head coach Scott Langer.

It was also a memorable weekend for forward Sam Rennaker. The second-year Runner had three goals over the series including two in Friday's 3-0 win and Topeka's first score in the thrilling 4-3 comefrom-behind victory on Saturday. Rennaker is tied for third on the team with 10 goals and is also tied for third with two game winners. He is also one of only seven players to skate in at least 30 of the team's 31 games.

The RoadRunners return to Landon Arena on December 27th and 28th to face second-place Wichita Falls. This weekend, the Capitals will try to break out against their newly minted rival: The Nashville Junior Predators. Tickets are only $5 and parking will be free.
