Metropolitan Riveters News Release
NJ/NY -ÃÂ The Metropolitan Riveters have signed goaltender Tera Hofmann, a Toronto native who was the team's third round selection in the 2020 NWHL Draft.
Said Hofmann, "As a kid, I always struggled with the inequality faced by female hockey players. While our male counterparts could look to the NHL for inspiration, it was much harder for me to find representation in professional hockey. I am honoured and grateful that I can help represent professional women's athletics and be a role model for younger generations of hockey players."
The 21-year-old Hofmann made her mark in the record books during her four seasons at Yale from 2017-2020. Her career GAA of 2.64 is third in program history, while her .914 save percentage ranks her fourth. She had six shutouts are the fifth-highest total for a Bulldog.
Three of those shutouts came consecutively during Hofmann's senior season in 2019-20. For her heroics, she was named ECAC Goalie of the Week and a 3 Stars honoree by the NCAA.
"Tera had a very good career at Yale, and she has a calming demeanor in the nets, which should translate well at the pro level in the NWHL," said Yale head coach Mark Bolding.
