Cincinnati Riverhawks News Release

Cincinnati, Ohio (June 17, 2002) The undefeated steak of the Seattle Sounder came to a screeching halt Friday night at the hands of the Cincinnati Riverhawks.

Winners of their first 8 games by a combined score of 28 to 9, the Hawks came out firing. The Riverhawks were on the board first from a diving header from Ryan Lucas in the 41st minute. The Hawks' lead held up until the 60th minute when Jason Farrell passed the ball to Brian Ching, who tapped it in to even up the match. But the Hawks came right back in the 71st minute when Christof Lindenmayer crossed a ball to Simon Lowey who hit a rocket from 25 yards out to give the Hawks the lead. In the 81st minute, Daniel Alvarez sealed the win and a bonus point for the Riverhawks as he got one past Seattle's goalkeeper to make the final score of three to one.

The Riverhawks remain in third place in the central division with the second place Minnesota Thunder coming to town this Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
