LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks announced Friday that they have picked up the 2008 option on infielder Ryan McArdle and signed infielder Jeff Thamann.
McArdle hit a three-run homer in his first at-bat with the RiverHawks, July 28, 2007. He was 3-for-18 (.167) with a home run and three RBI in eight games with Rockford.
Both McArdle and Thamann began last season in the independent New York State League, which did not release statistics and folded last July. McArdle played for the Utica Brewmasters and Thamann played for the Rome Coppers.
The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 16th season this summer.
