Augusta RiverHawks News Release

The Augusta RiverHawks announce that they have signed goaltender BJ O'Brien for the 2011-12 season. O'Brien will join the team immediately. O'Brien started the season with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League.

O'Brien fills the roster spot previously occupied by goaltender Peter Skoggard. Due to an error made by immigration officials on Skoggard's paperwork he is forced to return to his native country of Sweden until the matter is resolved.

It is O'Brien's first professional season after a stellar collegiate career that saw him win two Division III National Championships with St. Norbert College. In his junior year at St. Norbert his club made the National Championship Finals where O'Brien made 70 saves. Prior to attending St. Norbert College O'Brien played two seasons at St. Cloud State University.

Skoggard played in three games for the RiverHawks so far during the 2011-12 season. He won all three match-ups and had a league leading goals against average of 2.00. He also ranked second in the league with a save percentage of .932.

The next game for the RiverHawks will be on the road in Huntsville, AL as they face off against the Havoc Thursday night. It is the first game of back-to-back games against the Havoc. The two teams face off again Friday, November 4th on Phoenix Refrigeration Ice at the James Brown Arena.

Fans can catch Thursday's game on the big screens live at the RiverHawks' official watch party at Somewhere in Augusta at 2820 Washington Rd. Additional information on the Team, tickets, and schedule are available on the RiverHawks' home on the web, www.augustariverhawks.com or by calling 904-982-4218.
