Cincinnati Riverhawks News Release
(Cincinnati, OH) â The Cincinnati Riverhawks (2-2-0) are set to host their new Central Division rivals the El Paso Patriots (1-0-1) this Saturday May 10 at 7:05 pm at the Town & Country Sports Complex. The Patriots are new to the Central Division this season after spending the past few in the Pacific Division.
The Riverhawks hope to improve their record against the Patriots which is an unsightly 1-11, including going 0-2 in 2002. This will be the first of four meetings between the two teams this season. The Patriots travel back to Cincinnati June 1. Cincinnati travels to El Paso for two game weekend trip July 4-6.
The Riverhawks look to continue their scoring efforts. Forward Byron Carmichael leads the Hawks with goals and 6 points and four players trail him with one goal each. Cincinnati comes into the game well rested after a hard fought loss against the Minnesota Thunder. Keeper Eric Pattison looks to lower his 1.00 GAA and add another shutout to the two he already has.
El Paso will have tough go on Saturday. The game will be the second in as many days for the Patriots. They travel to Indiana on May 9 for a game with the Blast before traveling down the road to Cincinnati. The Riverhawks should be able to use El Paso's lack of rest to their advantage. This game will also be something of a homecoming for Patriots keeper Alfredo Estrada who played for the Riverhawks in 2001.
With the Minnesota Thunder idle this weekend, a win for the Riverhawks would place them all alone atop the Central Division standings.
As an A-League premier team and part of the United Soccer Leagues, the Cincinnati Riverhawks enter its sixth season in 2003. For tickets and general team information call (513) 326-GOAL or visit www.riverhawks.com.
