Riverhawks Lose Fourth Straight

(Cincinnati, OH) – The Cincinnati Riverhawks (4-6-0, 12 points) lost their fourth game in a row tonight to the Calgary Storm (4-5-0, 12 points) 1-0. Cincinnati had the majority of quality chances in the game played in a light rain.

Both teams pressed hard in the first half. The best chance for a goal for either team came in the 23rd minute. Midfielder Andres Murraigui fired a shot that bounce off the right post.

The second half started out much like the first, but Cincinnati soon dominated the offense. The Riverhawks continued to push forward and had a couple of great opportunities to score. Defender Tim Finklea crossed a ball from the right side that midfielder Chris Doré got a foot on. Doré's shot bounced up and hit the bottom of the crossbar and almost went in. Midfielder Edward Child took a follow up shot which Calgary keeper Jamey Glasnovic was able to stop.

Cincinnati had another great chance for a goal in the 71st minute. Midfielder Allen Eller crossed the ball from the right side end line to Forward Byron Carmichael. Carmichael attempted to head the ball in but Glasnovic made a great save to stop the Hawks from scoring.

The game's lone goal came in the 87th minute when midfielder Nikolas Zuniga fired a shot from the top right corner of the penalty box into the bottom left corner of the net.

Cincinnati pushed forward hard for the rest of the game and had some good chances but were unable to put the ball in.

The Riverhawks next game is at home against the Indiana Blast on Friday June 13. This will be the third game between the two teams. Cincinnati looks to extend its lead in the race for the Border Battle Cup. Kickoff is at 8:05 pm.
