Cincinnati Riverhawks News Release
(Cincinnati, OH) â The Cincinnati Riverhawks (8-10-0, 24 points) are gearing up for their biggest game to date in the race for the playoffs. The Milwaukee Wave United (7-7-0, 21 points) visit Town & Country on Saturday, July 19 for the teams' first ever meeting. Kickoff is set for 7.05 pm. With the Minnesota Thunder 6 points out in front in the Western Conference Central Division, the battle for the second playoff spot is starting to take shape. Although Milwaukee currently rests in fourth place below El Paso, they have played four games less than the second place Riverhawks.
With Jeremie Piette completing his move to Vancouver, new acquisition Jason Cole may be set to play his first home game in the center of defense. Saturday's starting XI will depend on the availability of Jake Traeger, Trevor Perea and Nelson Akwari, currently on a loan arrangement from the Columbus Crew. The game could in fact hand three players with their Riverhawks debuts. Forward, Mike Apple has previously played for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, and he joins midfielder Lazo Alavanja and defender/midfielder Gino Diguardi â both formerly of the Indiana Blast â in agreeing terms to join Cincinnati. "We are excited about the chance for some new players to make an immediate impact" stated Riverhawks GM Jim Peto, today.
