RiverHawks Announce Funds Donated to MWR at Fort Gordon

The Augusta RiverHawks, a proud member of the Southern Professional Hockey League, is proud to announce the total funds raised by its fans during the team's second Patriots and Pucks game.

On Sunday, February 19th the RiverHawks wore specially designed military themed uniforms in a tribute to Fort Gordon and all of the military families in the CSRA. Immediately after the game the jerseys were auctioned off to RiverHawks' fans. The fans raised over $7,500.00 which will be donated to military charities through the MWR office at Fort Gordon.

"Military families are such a huge part of this community, it is a no-brainier for the RiverHawks to do what we can to lend a hand," said RiverHawks Vice-President of Operations Ken Vezina. " We are grateful that our fans are so supportive of the community partnerships that we establish, particularly those involving Fort Gordon. It's our pleasure to help out in whatever way we can, and look forward to continuing our relationships with the local military community, Fort Gordon, and MWR for years to come."

Over the course of the 2011-12 season the RiverHawks and it's fans raised over $50,000 in funds that were directly donated to various charitable endeavors throughout the CSRA. In addition to funds raised, the RiverHawks players and staff regularly visited schools and youth-based community organizations to present a positive message to young people throughout the area.
