RiverHawks Announce 13-Player Protected List

May 4, 2011 - SPHL (SPHL)
Augusta RiverHawks News Release

The Augusta RiverHawks Hockey Club has announced its 13-player protected list for the 2011 off-season. Each team in the Southern Professional Hockey League has the ability to maintain the SPHL playing rights of up-to 13 players, meaning those players can only play for the team protecting them if they play in the SPHL. Players left unprotected may still play for their previous team, however they are also free to take offers from other SPHL teams.

The following players are protected by the RiverHawks: Matt Auffrey, Jon Olthuis, Branden Kosolofsky, Travis Dunstall, Ryan Olidis, Peter Skoggard, Drew Baker, Aaron McGill, Jim Gehring, Kevin Fukala, Jason Price, Ed Snetsinger, and Curtis Megginson.

The list includes both of the RiverHawks' playoff goaltenders, Jon Olthuis and Peter Skoggard, as well as the entire top line that led the young team through the league's two longest winning streaks in the second half of the regular season and into a playoff run that saw the expansion team become President's Cup Finalists.

Perhaps the most notable name absent from the list is that of second-leading scorer Neil Graham. The RiverHawks have left Graham off the list after being told of his plans to take a full-time job in Erie, PA working in sports business. The RiverHawks wish him the best of luck in his endeavor.

The RiverHawks will now enter discussions with the players to have them agree to sign Try-Out Agreements, which will allow them to attend 2011 Training Camp. Contracts for the 2011-12 season are not signed until the completion of the 2011 Training Camp.

Season tickets are on sale for the 2011-12 season and are available through the RiverHawks' front office at 706-993-2645. Information on the team is available at www.augustariverhawks.com.
