Riverdragons To Celebrate "Paint the Town Orange Week" April 4-9

COLUMBUS, Ga., March 30 – In honor of their berth in the 2005 NBDL Playoffs, the Columbus Riverdragons will round out the 2004-05 NBDL regular season with "Paint the Town Orange Week", a weeklong celebration of basketball and community outreach to help build support for the club as it enters the postseason.

"Paint the Town Orange Week" is set for April 4-9 and will feature community appearances by Riverdragons players, dance team members, and mascot Rivvy D, local media promotions, a kids "Spring Break" basketball camp, and the Dragons final two home games of the regular season against Fayetteville on Thursday, April 7 and Roanoke on Saturday, April 9 at the Columbus Civic Center. Rivvy D will make special visits to many community employers and organizations throughout the week as part of the Riverdragons community outreach program.

"If you have ever wanted to attend a Riverdragons game or even if you think you want to attend a Riverdragons game; this is the week to do it," said Riverdragons team president, J. Barry McMullin. "We are looking to end our regular season with a bang so that we can carry the momentum into the playoffs. Now is the time and the Civic Center is the place."

"Paint the Town Orange Week" tips off on Monday, April 4 the team will host a "Meet and Greet" party for all fans at Peach Bowl Lanes, located on Bradley Park Drive in North Columbus. The night will feature autograph signings and bowling with Riverdragons players, River Rage dance team members, and staff.

The morning of Wednesday, April 6 will be highlighted by the opening of the "Spring Break Basketball Camp" to be held at the Columbus Civic Center. The camp will run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and culminates in games Saturday afternoon before the Riverdragons game against Roanoke. The camp is for boys and girls, ages 7-14 years old and of all skill levels. Campers will practice fundamentals that will help them become better, smarter, and more disciplined basketball players. All campers in attendance will receive quality basketball instruction, a Riverdragons T-shirt, two tickets to the Dragons Thursday, April 7 home game against Fayetteville, four tickets to the Dragons regular season finale versus Roanoke on Saturday, April 9, and the chance to win Riverdragons prizes and merchandise. Thursday, April 7 will feature the second day of the "Spring Break Basketball Camp" and the Dragons home match-up with the Fayetteville Patriots at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center.

Riverdragons players and River Rage dance team members will make an appearance at the Carmike 15 Theatres on Friday, April 8 to sign autographs and take photos with fans of all ages. The event will run prior to the premier of Martin Lawrence's new film, "Rebound", beginning at 6:00 p.m..

On Saturday, April 9 the Riverdragons will cap off "Paint the Town Orange Week" with a season ticket holder celebration, special giveaways, and the final regular season home game against the Roanoke Dazzle on Fan Appreciation Night. At 5:15 p.m. all season ticket holders are invited to attend a pre-game "Meet and Greet" with Dragons players and River Rage dancers in the Civic Center hospitality suite. Season ticket holders will receive complimentary merchandise and special offers on 2005-06 ticket packages.

Fan Appreciation Night will be highlighted by the "Kids Jersey Giveaway", with the first 500 kids receiving a free, Riverdragons kids jersey. The Krispy Kreme Donut truck will be parked in front of the Civic Center and lucky fans will receive complimentary donuts prior to the game. Plus, fans wearing orange to the Civic Center box office prior to the game will receive 50 percent off a $14 ticket. In what may be a playoff preview, the Dragons square off against the Roanoke Dazzle at 7 p.m..

A special, weeklong radio promotion will also be included during "Paint the Town Orange Week". Sunny 100 and morning show host Alan Quinn will present the "Where's Rivvy D Contest". Select listeners who find Rivvy D in special locations around the community during the week will win two tickets to the Riverdragons regular season finale on Saturday.
