Riverdragons Extend Summer Hoops Camp Deadline

COLUMBUS, Ga., (June 4, 2003) – Due to popular demand, the application deadline for attending the inaugural Columbus Riverdragons Summer Hoops Camp has been extended to July 1. The next 30 campers to register before July 1 will receive a free Spalding glow-in-the-dark basketball. Free basketballs offered to the first 30 campers to register for the Summer Hoops Camp have already been claimed. The Riverdragons Summer Hoops Camp will be held July 8-11 in the brand new gymnasium at Northside High School in North Columbus. The morning session runs 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. and is for campers ages 8 – 12. The afternoon session runs 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. and is for campers ages 13-16. Campers are required to have a medical form completed by a physician and a waiver release form completed by a guardian prior to participating in the Riverdragons Summer Hoops Camp. Directed by Riverdragons head coach and 13-year NBA veteran Jeff Malone, the Riverdragons Summer Hoops Camp will teach both individual skills and team concepts, culminating in a tournament the camp's final day. All campers will receive a camp T-shirt, four tickets to a Riverdragons game, a sports water bottle, and a certificate of participation. Tuition for the four-day camp is $85. In addition to Coach Malone, camp staff expected to participate include Riverdragons assistant coach Rob Werdann and point guard Sean Peterson as well as coaches from several local area programs. Players will be grouped by age and skill level. Camp sponsors include Q107.3, the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, Columbus Regional SportsCare, Dr. Jay Brodwyn, Intermet, Image Master Graphics, West Georgia Orthodontics and AJ Screen Printers.
