Riverdragons Alumni Populate NBA Summer Leagues

COLUMBUS, GA—Eight current and former members of the Columbus Riverdragons have earned spots on 2004 NBA Summer League rosters and will perform in front of NBA general managers, coaching staffs, and scouts in their efforts to win roster spots for NBA training camps that begin in late September.

A total of 64 players and three head coaches from the NBDL's first three seasons are participating at five sites for NBA Summer League action: the Pepsi Pro Summer League in Orlando, Fla., Minnesota Summer League in Minneapolis, Minn., Reebok Vegas Summer League in Las Vegas, Nev., Southern California Summer Pro League in Long Beach, Ca., and the Reebok Rocky Mountain Revue in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Five members of the 2003-04 Riverdragons squad participating in NBA Summer League action include: Derrick Zimmerman, Terence Morris, Nick Sheppard, Adam Harrington, and Ezra Williams. Dragons players from the team's first two seasons participating this summer include: Gabe Muoneke, Nate Green, and Lonnie Jones.

• Zimmerman, who finished his rookie season sixth in the NBDL in assists with 5.3 distributions per game, will compete with the Seattle Supersonics in the Reebok Rocky Mountain Revue, July 16-24, in Salt Lake City.

• Morris, who finished fifth in the NBDL in rebounding (7.4 pg) and blocked shots (1.6 pg) during the 2003-04 campaign, is currently playing for the Los Angeles Clippers squad at the Southern California Summer Pro League in Long Beach, Ca.. Through two games with the Clippers, the 6-9 forward and NBA veteran with Houston is averaging 9.0 points and 6.0 rebounds, including a 14 point, five rebound performance against the New York Knicks squad on July 10.

• Harrington, the former Auburn Tiger who averaged 11.2 points in 17 games with Columbus this past season, will suit up for the Indiana Pacers at the Reebok Rocky Mountain Revue in Salt Lake City.

• Sheppard, the 6-11 center who appeared in 25 games with the Dragons in 2003-04, will also perform for the Indiana Pacers in Salt Lake City.

• Williams, who averaged 11.4 points per contest in 11 games for Columbus prior to a season-ending foot injury will compete alongside Zimmerman with the Seattle Supersonics in Salt Lake City.

• Muoneke, a 2001-02 All-NBDL Honorable Mention selection for the Dragons, is set to compete for the Washington Wizards at the inaugural Reebok Vegas Summer Pro League in Las Vegas, Nevada.

• Green, who led Columbus in assists (5.1) during the 2002-03 season, averaged 4.0 points and 3.4 assists in three games with the Miami Heat during the just-concluded Pepsi Pro Summer League in Orlando, Fla..

• Jones, who appeared in eight games with the Dragons in 2002-03 will join the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Reebok Vegas Summer Pro League in Las Vegas.
